Editor's note

Job has changed, but I'll be around

The season of change is upon us. Just like its parent publication, The Baltimore Sun, UniSun is updating its appearance. And we've made some changes behind the scenes, too.

With much regret, I have stepped down as editor of this publication to move on to something new and challenging. In my new role as community and public relations manager for the Baltimore Sun Media Group, I have the opportunity to connect with you in a different way.

For three years, I've enjoyed giving you, our readers, lifestyle stories that reflect how you live, work and play.

I became acquainted with many of you by attending various events, such as the annual African-American Heritage Festival and the Baltimore Book Festival. I received e-mails and letters that told me how much you enjoyed UniSun and its stories about travel, food, history, religion, music, culture and fashion.

Some of you provided news tips and others provided much-appreciated feedback. Together we found success, and in July UniSun won a Salute to Excellence Award, given by the National Association of Black Journalists at its annual conference in Chicago.

I know the new UniSun editor, Michelle Deal-Zimmerman, will continue moving this publication forward.

But please remember, I'm not far away. My new job involves working on behalf of UniSun and other publications of The Baltimore Sun. So you can bet you'll see me. And I look forward to seeing you.
