Publisher donates to charity for seniors
The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities has received a $14,000 gift to supplement its Friends of Arundel Seniors charitable program.
The gift from Veronica Tovey, publisher of the What's Up? Publishing Group, aids the group, which supervises funds that help local seniors and disabled citizens in emergency situations, when all other resources have been exhausted. The organization is run by volunteers.
Each year, What's Up? Publishing Group in conjunction with Department of Aging and Disabilities and Senior Services Providers Group publishes the Services for Seniors Directory. What's Up? magazine sells advertisements to businesses, organizations and individuals and donates half of the proceeds to the Friends of Arundel Seniors organization, the department's charitable component.
"I am very happy to accept this donation from Veronica and What's Up? Publishing Group to continue to keep Anne Arundel County seniors and those living with disabilities informed of the variety of services available to them and their caretakers," County Executive John R. Leopold said.
