Windsor Mill man killed in accident on 295

Crash blocked southbound Baltimore-Washington Parkway between Route 100, I-195

Southbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway between Route 100 and Interstate 195 reopened shortly after 7 a.m. today after an accident involving a car and a motorcycle left one person dead and forced authorities to close the roadway for hours.

The crash occurred about 12:10 a.m., just north of the Route 100 ramp. Police said that a 1999 Honda Prelude driven by Casey Scott Shibata was traveling south on the parkway when the car drifted off the left side of the roadway. After an investigation, police concluded that the driver of the Honda over-corrected, and the car began to rotate clockwise. The Honda entered the right lane, where it collided with a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Arthur Lynwood Tyree, police said.

Shibata, 34, of Waldorf, was taken by ambulance to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Tyree, 41, of Windsor Mill, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he later died.
