Gunman flees into woods after robbing Rite Aid
A gunman robbed a Rite Aid in Woodlawn early yesterday and led police on a brief slow-speed chase on the Baltimore Beltway before abandoning the car and fleeing into a wooded area, Baltimore County police said. After robbing the drugstore in the 7100 block of Security Blvd. of an undisclosed amount about 5 a.m., the man forced an employee to leave with him in the employee's car, said Bill Toohey, a police spokesman. The employee was released unharmed on Security Boulevard near the store and called police, Toohey said. A manager had also called police, he said. An officer in a marked police car who spotted the stolen car on the Beltway pursued it, Toohey said. The man crashed the vehicle on an exit ramp and fled on foot into nearby woods, Toohey said. A helicopter and canine unit were unable to find him, he said.
