Police seek third man in Baltimore County killing

Baltimore County police said yesterday that they are seeking a third man in a fatal shooting this month in Woodlawn. Police said they have an arrest warrant for Quinzell Tyrell Covington, 22, of the 1300 block of Pennsylvania Ave. in Baltimore, who is wanted in the death of Cletus R. Gittens, 25. Two Baltimore men have been charged with murder in Gittens' death: Xavier Antonio Hall, 21, of the 2100 block of Orleans St. and Timothy Bean, 25, of the 2800 block of Ellicott Drive. Bean and Gittens were found wounded Nov. 3 by police responding to a report of gunshots in the 7100 block of Security Blvd. Gittens, of the 1900 block of Greengage Road in Woodlawn, was pronounced dead at Northwest Hospital Center. Bean was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment and was arrested after he was released, police said. Bean and Hall are being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Anyone with information about Covington is asked to call police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 866-7-LOCKUP (866-756-2587).

Second man arrested in Woodlawn shooting

A second person has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a man in Woodlawn, Baltimore County police said yesterday. Xavier Antonio Hall, 21, of the 2100 block of Orleans St. in Baltimore was arrested and charged last week. Timothy Bean, 25, of the 2800 block of Ellicott Drive in Baltimore was arrested Nov. 5 and charged with murder. Police responding to a report of gunshots in the 7100 block of Security Blvd. on Nov. 3 found Bean and Cletus R. Gittens, 25, of the 1900 block of Greengage Road in Woodlawn suffering from gunshot wounds. Gittens was pronounced dead at Northwest Hospital Center. Bean was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment and was arrested after he was released, police said. Police said yesterday the motive for the shooting remained unknown.

Baltimore man charged in Woodlawn-area killing

A Baltimore man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of a man Monday night in the Woodlawn area, Baltimore County police said yesterday. Timothy Bean, 25, of the 2800 block of Ellicott Drive was arrested Wednesday in the fatal shooting of Cletus Ronnie Gittens, 25, of the 1900 block of Greengage Road, police said. Officers found Gittens in the 7100 block of Security Blvd., behind the Chadwick Manor shopping center, after being called about 11:10 p.m. Monday to investigate reports of gunshots, police said. Gittens was pronounced dead at Northwest Hospital Center. Police said they found Bean, who had a gunshot wound to his leg, a short distance from Gittens. Bean was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment and was arrested after he was released from the hospital. Investigators asked anyone with information to call Baltimore County police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587).

Two Balto. Co. men killed in separate incidents

Two Baltimore County men were killed Monday night and early yesterday morning in separate, unrelated incidents, county police said. Cletus Ronnie Gittens, 25, of the 1900 block of Greengage Road, was pronounced dead at Northwest Hospital Center, police said. Police were called about 11:10 p.m. to the 7100 block of Security Blvd., behind the Chadwick Manor shopping center in the Woodlawn area, after a report of gunshots fired, police said. There they found Gittens suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. Police were called about 2 a.m. yesterday to the 1000 block of Maiden Choice Lane in the Arbutus area, where they found a man lying in the roadway bleeding, police said. Robert Arthur Silver, 48, of the 1100 block of Gloria Ave. in Arbutus was suffering from stab wounds, police said. Silver was taken to St. Agnes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Husband charged in Woodlawn beating

A Woodlawn woman beaten with a brick in her home Thursday remained in critical but stable condition yesterday, and her husband, whom police revived after an apparent suicide attempt, is charged in the attack, Baltimore County police said. Officers responding to a report of an injured person arrived at 3:30 a.m. Thursday to the home in the first block of Greenapple Court and found Evelyn Macklin, 66, suffering from a large head wound, said Cpl. Michael Hill, a police spokesman. Police found her husband, John W. Macklin, 71, trying to hang himself, Hill said. He was taken to Northwest Hospital Center; his condition was not revealed yesterday. Macklin has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault, according to electronic court records. Evelyn Macklin, who was initially found by her stepdaughter, is being treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, Hill said.

Psychiatric care delay in spotlight

The Maryland Insurance Administration is investigating complaints that some psychiatric patients have been forced to wait hours - in some cases, several days - to be hospitalized because their insurance companies have not responded quickly when emergency room doctors called to verify coverage.The Baltimore health department has sent the state agency information about 10 cases in recent months in which patients endured long waits to be admitted to hospitals because their insurance companies could not be reached for approval.

Man dies in crash on Liberty Road

A man was killed early yesterday when his car overturned on Liberty Road near the Beltway after striking a traffic island and a light pole and going airborne, Baltimore County police said. The man, identified as Zachary Alan Harrison, 50, of the 6000 block of Prince George St. in Woodlawn, was driving a 2005 Volkswagen east on Liberty Road near Abbie Place when the crash occurred about 2:10 a.m., police said. Harrison, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
