Shooting A 27-year-old woman pregnant with twins was shot while riding in a car driven by her boyfriend in the 200 block of N. Mount St. about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. A gunman approached the vehicle on the driver's side and opened fire. The bullets missed the driver, but one of them struck the woman under her left arm. The gunman fled. Police said the woman ran into a house in the 1700 block of W. Lexington St., where she was found by police. She was taken by a Fire Department ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Center and treated for a wound that was not life-threatening. Police said the fetuses were unharmed. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the district's detective unit at 410-396-2477.
Assault A man, 44, and a teenage boy were involved in a drug transaction in the 500 block of Wilson St. about 4 p.m. Monday when the man tried to steal two gel capsules containing heroin from the teen. During a struggle, the teen picked up a piece of wood and struck the man several times on the head. The youth escaped. Police said the victim was treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center and was reported in good condition. No arrest had been made.
Theft Someone broke into a 2001 Nissan truck parked in the first block of W. Cross St. on Monday and removed a Global Positioning System device valued at $200.
Theft/assault About 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, a theft-prevention officer at Owings Mill Mall was in the parking lot approaching two women suspected of stealing property when they got into a silver-colored 2002 Audi with tags 7CS D42 and began to drive off, police said. When the officer neared the car, he was struck but not seriously injured. Anyone with information on the suspects is urged to call the precinct at 410-887-6975.
Vandalism At least eight vehicles were parked in the first block of Straw Hat Road over the weekend when someone shattered their windows and used a sharp object to puncture their tires. There was no estimate of damage.
