I was fortunate to work on the grounds crew during my high school years, 1989 through 1991. During this time I had many interactions with many ballplayers, and being a huge baseball fan, this was a dream job. It was never about the $3.35 p/hour, it was about being apart of the Oriole way.

I was there at Camden Yards when Cal set the record for most consecutive games. That is my greatest thrill as a baseball fan. I don't know of anyone more deserving of the Hall of Fame.

Cal was my hero growing up. He was such a strong role model. I followed him to O's games in summer and to basketball games in winter. I had the opportunity to meet/talk with him many times. He always gave his fans attention I'll never forget him for that! We need more role models today like him.

Cal is more than all of the records that he shattered. He single handedly saved baseball, one autograph at a time.

I had the opportunity to meet Cal's family when Cal Sr. passed away. They are the most genuine, down to earth family that I have ever met and thanked me for coming to the funeral home in Aberdeen to pay my respects. I followed Cal for his entire career. No one is more deserving of the Hall.

Cal Ripken. When I say his name so many things come to mind. Integrity. Honesty. Toughness. Family values. Baltimore. Baseball. Most of all, I think, baseball. He played the game the way it was meant to be played.

I attended many games in Memorial Stadium and have been a Orioles fan for years. I have seen all of the greats play. And Cal is one of the best. Cal had so many great games it is hard to find one that stands out. You wish someone like Cal would play forever.
