Furyk rides hot play into clubhouse lead
Jim Furyk finished with five straight birdies to set the course record at Bellerive with an 8-under-par 62 in the second round, then followed with a 66 that put him at 12-under 198 and gave him the clubhouse lead at the BMW Championship in St.Louis. Camilo Villegas, who shot 66 in the morning for a one-shot lead through 36 holes, also was 12-under and had five holes left in the third round when play was suspended by darkness. He will have to return this morning to finish his round in a tournament twice interrupted by weather. Anthony Kim was at 9-under with one hole to play. Right behind at 8-under 202 was a group that included K.J. Choi (64) and D.J. Trahan (68). Phil Mickelson was at 7-under with two holes to play.
European Nykredit Masters: Annika Sorenstam shot a 5-under 68 to trail Melissa Reid (66) by six shots after the second round in Helsingoer, Denmark. Sorenstam, in her final tournament in Europe, shared second place with Martina Eberl (73) at 7-under 139.
