All-Carroll County: Boys track
Performer of the Year: Issa Connell, North Carroll
Connell turned in an impressive performance in the always-tough Class 4A sprints at the state meet. The senior won the 100 meters in 10.88 seconds and took third in the 200.It marked the first time a North Carroll sprinter had ever captured a state title.
It wasn't too much of a surprise, as Connell had swept the same two events in helping North Carroll finish second at the Carroll County meet behind Francis Scott Key. Connell also helped the Panthers in relays at times.
Coach of the Year: Tim Walsh, Francis Scott Key
Walsh did a good job of developing a strong, experienced and balanced lineup that gave the Eagles the depth needed to win the Carroll County title. Key got a lot of help from several seniors and scored an impressive 143 points, far ahead of North Carroll (102) at the county meet.
The Eagles later finished 15th in the Class 2A state meet. They used the strong performances of runners such as Arthur Leathers and Jordan White, who've scored well in tougher meets the past few years.
