Nova Southeastern University, headquartered in Davie, Fla., is one of Florida's largest private universities. Its current president is Ray Ferrero, Jr. NSU ranks America's sixth-largest independent institution of higher education, and counts more than 76,000 alumni. It's 330-acre campus houses 16 colleges and schools, with a wide range of academic fields and disciplines including business, nursing and the humanities. The Shepard Broad Law Center, College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Optometry, Center for Psychological Studies are just several of the colleges and schools within Nova Southeastern. NSU currently serves a student body of roughly 26,000 students. In addition to its main campus, NSU's "distance education delivery" system offers courses at satellite campuses across Florida, and the Caribbean. The distance education program specializes in a broad number of fields, from business to school psychology. The fast-growing university has also unveiled a number of flagship buildings in recent years. Those include a new, high-tech business school and a brand new library, the Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center. This library is operated in conjunction with the Broward Library System. NSU's athletic departments compete in the NCAA's Division II as members of the Sunshine State Conference. NSU offers 15 intercollegiate athletic programs nine women's programs and six men's teams.
