The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, which in 2007 celebrated its 22nd year, is a competitive annual event that runs each October and November for about a month in South Florida. It was founded on June 3, 1986, as the Greater Fort Lauderdale Film Festival; the current name was bestowed in 1991. It is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest-running film festival.
