Battle of the buses
With a slowing economy and rising gas prices, travelers are looking for ways to vacation on the cheap. Nothing seems quite as frugal as taking the bus. Trust us, we know. Three Sun reporters each traveled from Baltimore to New York on the same day on three different bus lines - the new, upstart megasbus.com, the Chinatown bus and the stalwart Greyhound. State tourism offices
States and many U.S. territories have tourism offices to help visitors. When requesting travel literature, be as specific as possible. Here's a list of Mid-Atlantic region state travel offices.
Bus lines from Baltimore
Several lines offer express, economical service from various Baltimore locations to Atlantic City, New York and other mid-Atlantic destinations. In addition to Greyhound, a variety of other bus lines depart around-the-clock from the Baltimore Travel Plaza off Interstate 95. Reservations for bus companies offering service to New York's Chinatown can also be made at gotobus.com. Fares average about $20 one-way and $35 round-trip.
